The Senior Systems Engineer, Database Administration (DBA) is a key member of our client´s Infrastructure Services team, focused on modernizing IT database administration through automation, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), and Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS). This hands-on role is responsible for designing, managing, and securing databases, driving automation to improve stability, efficiency, and security across systems. The engineer will work with various technical teams to develop automated solutions, enhance operational efficiency, and contribute to the company’s IT transformation.

The role also includes providing thought leadership on IT automation, optimizing databases, and implementing best practices. In addition, the engineer will support database management processes, participate in incident response, and collaborate with vendors and external service providers.

Responsibilities:

• Engineering, Operations, and Code Development: Collaborate with teams to optimize and automate IT systems for Database, Analytics, and Reporting services. Lead maintenance, troubleshoot issues, manage database vulnerabilities, and develop automation code for various systems.

• Architecture Standards and Strategy: Act as the lead technical resource for Kontoor’s Enterprise Data Services. Focus on developing Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) through automation, ensuring compliance with regulations and best practices. Design, implement, and automate on-premises and cloud database systems, ensuring high availability and disaster recovery capabilities.

• Project Execution and Delivery: Participate in project design, review technical solutions, and contribute to continuous improvement in IT infrastructure. Document processes, standards, and project deliverables.

• Internal Stakeholder and Vendor Management: Build relationships with internal teams and vendors to support IT automation. Mentor and guide teams on DBaaS transformation and drive the adoption of automation practices.

• Leadership: Provide mentorship and technical guidance to peers. Lead discussions and design workshops, contributing to strategic decisions while operating independently in a remote environment.

Requirements:

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Database Administration, or related fields preferred, or 8+ years of equivalent experience.

• 8+ years of experience with various database technologies (e.g., Microsoft SQL focused, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Azure PaaS).

• 5+ years of experience with analytics and reporting platforms (e.g., Power BI, SQL Reporting Services).

• Extensive experience in database infrastructure orchestration and automation (e.g., Infrastructure-as-Code) and multi-cloud infrastructure (Azure, GCP, AWS).

• High proficiency in English. (B2+)

Technical Skills:

• Proficient in DevOps, CI/CD, and automation scripting using Python, PowerShell, JavaScript, YAML, etc.

• Advanced knowledge of hybrid-cloud technologies, database services, networking (e.g., TCP/IP, load balancers), and hybrid domain infrastructure (Microsoft and Linux).

• Experience with enterprise automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Azure DevOps, Ansible) and ITSM platforms (e.g., ServiceNow).

• ITIL certification preferred.
